This is a
preliminary website that will be replaced with a
permanent and more comprehensive design in the near future.
The purpose of this
site is to bring together former members of the
Attic Folk Club, RAF Changi, Singapore.
A little history

I am a former
committee member of The Attic Folk Club, Changi,
1966.
A brief history
first and to bring you up to speed....some 15
years ago I decided to trace a couple of old
mates of mine, Dev Deverill & Mick 'Twinkle'
Toze who started the Attic Folk Club in
1965 along with a Navy chap called Mike 'Speedy'
Davies. These guys I managed to trace and along
the way picked up two or three others and last
year I brought them all together for a mini
reunion along with a couple of girls who started
the Seletar Folk Club soon after the Attic. One
guy flew in from HK, one guy from Oz and one
girl from Switzerland to join us UK bound types.
It was very successful, the guests at the hotel
where we met were treated to an impromptu folk
evening, it was the first time we had all been
together in 37 years although I had linked up
everyone by phone and email.
My task is
to search out others from the Singapore folk
scene. It has become great fun and a full time
hobby, it's moving forward. The idea is to have
another reunion this year and I have put it in
place for Friday, the 6th & Saturday, the 7th
October 2006 in a hotel in Amesbury, Wiltshire.
(details if you would like them) There is
virtually no organisation, you just turn up
if you wish, sing, dance, do whatever.... we are
all now socked out, dropped out, worn out
folkies, some close to deaths door, no one needs
organising. Quite a few have said they are
turning up and some have already booked into the
hotel for one or two nights
I now have a
database and you have been added to it....I only
need a couple of things from you really, were
you in the services, what years you were in
S'pore, did you sing, play or were you like me a
hand clapping, foot stomping Tiger drinking man
who just enjoyed the music....oh and a phone
number, not everyone is in the 21st century and
on email. When I have what details you can send,
I will then email a full list of those traced to
you and your details to the others.
As I trace others I
will add them to the list and send out to
everyone.
